Hoengseong County in Gangwon Province said on Oct. 14 that it signed a memorandum of understanding on Oct. 13 at the offices of the Hoengseong County Forestry Cooperative covering the field application of forest-road slope revegetation technology and related technical cooperation. The parties to the agreement are the county, the cooperative and Guru ENT Co. (㈜구루이엔티).
The agreement is intended to promote stable revegetation and the establishment of plant cover on the slopes created when forest roads are cut, and to use mechanised construction methods to improve both the revegetation of those slopes and the ease of construction work.
Under the agreement, the revegetation technology will first be applied at Hoengseong County forest-road sites in 2025 and 2026, and the parties plan to confirm the actual effect of the work and how well the method performs in the field. The slope revegetation technology held by Guru ENT uses the G-PAD and Pelotte methods, among others, to prepare a seeding base on the slope and encourage plants to take root.
The three organisations said they will cooperate on technology application, on-site construction, project implementation and verification of results, drawing on the expertise and role of each. Through that work they will examine the state of revegetation on forest-road slopes and whether plant cover becomes established, and will consider whether the method can be applied more widely in future forest-road projects.
Park Jong-chul, head of the county's forest and green space division, said: "We expect this agreement to be a considerable help not only in achieving stable revegetation of forest-road slopes but also in building forest infrastructure that is friendly to nature." He added: "We will look closely at the results of the field application and work to use them to improve the quality of forest-road projects."
